Ingredients
- 1 6 oz. can of tuna drained
- ½ cup chopped celery
- 2 Tblsp. chopped onion
- 1 cup cubed Velveeta cheese
- ½ cup Miracle Whip
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Drain tuna and mix all ingredients. Place 2 tablespoons of mixture on a bun.
- Wrap in aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
- I have made these without the celery and onion as one of our kids does not like those two ingredients. So I have substituted onion powder and omit the celery and it turns out like a
- tuna melt on a bun.
- I learned how to make these way back in 8th grade - when Home Ec. class was a requirement.
- We had to come up with a complete meal plan and this was our main entrée. I could have
- been the one who passed the Scotcheroo recipe around in the area as that was our dessert!
Terri's Notes
~ I baked some in foil - soft, moist, really handy to prep ahead. But I also baked some on a
baking sheet - with the bun top face up next to the open faced sandwich. Bun top browned
just a bit, yummy too.
