Ingredients
  • 4 cups fresh sliced, peaches
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg optional
  • ½ cup butter 1 stick
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 cup milk room temperature
  • 1 large egg beaten, room temperature
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, mix peaches, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. Place butter in a 13X9 inch pan or baking dish. Place in oven to melt butter.
  4. While butter melts, mix together flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Stir in milk and egg to blend.
  6. Carefully remove pan from oven and pour batter evenly over the melted butter in pan.
  7. Do not mix. Spread peaches and juice evenly over batter. Do not stir.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes, batter will rise and turn golden brown.
  9. Serve warm with ice cream.
