Here’s a favorite around my house. It’s a recipe I grew up with and has become a hit with my husband and my kids!

  • CourseMain Dish
Ingredients
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 or 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/4-1/2 cup chopped onions, depends how much you like onions
  • 3 8 oz. cans of tomato sauce
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 8 oz. medium cheddar cheese, shredded
  • pinch of white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 box lasagna noodles
Instructions
  1. ♦ Set oven to 350 degrees.
♦ Brown ground meat in a large pan and drain off the grease.
♦ Add chopped garlic, onion, tomato, sugar, salt and pepper.
    ♦ Simmer for 20 minutes.
♦ While the sauce is simmering, boil lasagna noodles until just al dente.
♦ Rinse the noodles in cold water and set aside.
♦ Mix sour cream and cream cheese until smooth.
♦ Put 3 strips of noodles in the bottom of a 9x12 inch pan.
♦ Spread 1/3 of cream cheese mixture over the noodles, then spread 1/3 of the meat on top.
♦ Repeat twice to create 3 layers.
♦ Top with grated cheddar and bake for 20-30 minutes until cheese is melted and slightly bubbly.
  2. ♦ I love serving this recipe with canned corn… the crunchy sweetness is a nice counterpoint to the cheese and garlic.
♦ Salad and garlic bread also make nice additions.
♦ And BONUS-some say this lasagna tastes even better the following day.
♦ I hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as my family and I do. Happy cooking!!!

Terri's Notes

~ Fun, family friendly and mild version of lasagna.
~ Want to kick it up a notch?  I started by adding ½ a packet of my favorite Taco seasoning and ½ cup of salsa along with the tomato sauce.
~ Would also recommend baking for 15 minutes, sprinkling on the cheddar cheese and baking for 10 to 15 minutes more - so the flavors can really bake all the way through.
