From the kitchen of Heidi Prahl Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Prepare a heavy 9X9" pan or 8-9" cast iron skillet by melting a good Tblsp. of shortening in it and putting it in the oven to get hot.

Ingredients
  • Mix and beat well:
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup corn meal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp. oil
Instructions
  1. Pour mixture into HOT pan and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  2. Take it out of the oven, cut it immediately and drizzle with honey.
